about the project
Classic, traditional, timeless and tasteful-those were the words our clients used to describe their style.
This amalgamation of Texas Federalist and Traditional Limestone on the exterior and Spanish colonial inside was lacking in cohesion. Our overarching goal was to honor the classical style of the house while ensuring the home would be liveable as a family home, and a reflection of our clients’ style, which leaned toward traditional French Country.
We designed the formal dining room to be an experiential space that reflects the Old World European character our clients loved in other parts of the house. To add dimension and depth, we incorporated low-paneled wainscoting, which also creates the illusion of higher ceilings. The woodwork was then painted in a contrasting color to make it stand out and enhance the room's architectural features.
A mix of traditional furnishings, both antique and new, give the space a timeless, collected feel. An antique dining table is paired with French Country replica chairs, while a classic mahogany Regency demilune sideboard with flame-veneered oval-paneled doors provides storage and service. A Greek key rug and linen edge-banded curtains introduce softness, while a chandelier in the French Country style adds a final touch of elegance.
