about the project

The original architectural details in this 1941 American Tudor-style home were our guiding forces. The objective was not to replicate a specific historical period but to thoughtfully blend styles and eras, resulting in a truly timeless residence. Through this careful balance of old and new, we can honor the past while embracing the present.

We preserved and highlighted original architectural features, rethought poorly executed additions with reconfigurations or cosmetic updates, and introduced a colorful palette and thoughtful furnishings and lighting, ranging in styles from Mid-Century vintage through new contemporary with vintage references.

The spaces that underwent a full gut renovation include the kitchen, guest bathroom, and primary bathroom. We also relocated the laundry room from the unfinished basement to the main floor for added convenience. To accommodate a growing family, we transformed part of a closet and adjusted the stair header to create a third bathroom.

Cosmetic updates throughout included removing popcorn ceilings, screening original oak floorboards, replacing all decorative light fixtures and hardware, interior and exterior paint, wallpaper, adding tile to the outdoor spaces, window coverings, and furnishings.
